Serve at Compass Church
There’s a place for you on the team!
At Compass Church, we believe church is more than a Sunday service, it’s a family where everyone has a part to play. With a wide range of ministries and teams, there are so many ways to get involved and use your time, gifts and passion to make a difference.
Whether you're great with people, love working behind the scenes, or want to grow in something new, there's a space for you to serve.
Why Serve?
-
Serving is one of the most practical ways to grow in your faith
-
Serving helps build God’s Kingdom right here in Wellingborough
-
Serving brings you closer to Jesus — because He came to serve, not to be served!

Take a look through the different teams and consider where God might be leading you to get stuck in. We can’t wait to serve alongside you!
Where can I serve?
Here's a little more detail on each team and what that entails

Worship Team – Singing (Sundays)
If you love singing, this is for you. You’ll support sung worship during our Sunday services, working with worship leaders, rehearsing ahead of time, and helping create an atmosphere that draws people into worship.

Sound Team (Sundays)
This is your behind-the-scenes role ensuring people can hear clearly: mixing sound for the house, managing microphones, doing sound checks, adjusting volumes to match space and voices/instruments. If you’re good with sound and tech, this is hugely appreciated.

Tea & Coffee Team
(Sundays)
This behind-the-scenes role helps set the stage for fellowship after the service. You’ll prepare tea and coffee, set everything out ready for people to enjoy, and make sure the area looks welcoming. A simple act of service that makes a big difference in helping people connect.

Welcome & Stewarding Team (Sundays)
Be the first friendly face people see when they arrive! You’ll greet newcomers and regulars alike, hand out welcome booklets, guide people to their seats, and help explain how the service works. During the service, you’ll also assist with practical moments like managing the offering (handing out and collecting baskets). Your warmth and care help create a welcoming and organised environment for everyone.

Church Info Desk or Kids Church Check-In Assistant
(Sundays)
At the Info Desk you'll assist attendees in booking events, updating their details on ChurchSuite, signing up for our Mailing List, and exploring volunteer opportunities. Your friendly support is essential in creating a positive experience for everyone!

At the Kids Church Check-In Area, you will greet families and ensure a seamless self-check-in experience for children. Assisting new parents to register and helping all children feel welcome at Compass Church.

Juniors Team
(Friday Evenings)
Be part of shaping the faith and friendships of children in school years 3–6. This team creates a safe and exciting space where kids can enjoy games, activities, and plenty of fun, while also learning God’s Word and discovering who Jesus is. It’s all about building relationships and making church a place they love to be.

Cleaning Team
(Wednesday Mornings)
You’ll help care for the building: cleaning classrooms, meeting spaces, halls, kitchen, toilets etc. It’s practical behind-the-scenes work but so important — it helps our building feel warm and welcoming.

Admin & Office Support (Fridays)
Working more with paperwork, organisation, communication behind the scenes: updating databases, preparing mailouts, scheduling, helping church leadership with tasks. Perfect for someone who enjoys structure, organising, helping things run smoothly.

Seasonal Ministries – Alpha
Alpha is usually a run of special sessions exploring faith, often with film/teaching + discussion. Serving here might involve preparing space, catering, greeting, helping in discussion groups, follow-up, hospitality. It’s a seasonal commitment especially around each Alpha course.

Seasonal Ministries – The Marriage Course
Here you help couples on their journey: setting up sessions, preparing materials, hospitality (tea/coffee or snacks), creating a safe space for openness and learning.

Individual Meals & Catering for Events
If you love cooking or hospitality, this team is a wonderful way to serve. It could mean planning menus and preparing meals for church events like women’s and men’s days or leaders’ conferences. Or it might look like joining our meal train—cooking a meal at home and dropping it off to bless a family in need, whether they’ve just welcomed a new baby, come home from hospital, or are walking through a challenging season. A simple meal can show incredible love and care.

Photography
Help capture the life of our church through a lens! This role isn’t about covering every Sunday, but stepping in when we need updated photos for the website or social media, or to document special events. Your eye for detail will help us share our story and show others what being part of our church family looks like.

Sermon Editing & Uploading
Each week’s sermon is recorded, and this role is all about making it accessible. You’ll edit the audio file and upload it to the members’ section of the website so people can listen back and stay connected, even if they missed the service.

Worship Team – Instrument (Sundays)
Bring your musical gifts! Whether you play guitar, keyboard, drums, bass, or another instrument, you’ll help build the musical foundation of our services. You’ll collaborate with others, attend rehearsals, follow the worship leader’s guidance, and ensure your playing supports the congregation in worshipping the Lord.

Media Desk Team (Sundays)
Love technology, visuals or communications? In this team you might run slides (lyrics, notices etc), manage on-screen content, coordinate with the worship team and leaders, help with screens & live camera feed, or switch visuals during worship. You help make sure what people see enhances the worship service.

Car Park Duty
(Sundays)
Help people arrive safely and without stress. You’ll assist with directing traffic, guiding cars, helping people park, showing where to walk, possibly helping those with mobility issues. Being visible, friendly, and organised helps people’s first impressions.

Kids Church Team
(Sundays)
You’ll be helping lead teaching, games, crafts, and worship suitable for children. It’s about creating a safe, fun and meaningful space where kids can engage with Jesus, learn biblical truths, make friends, and feel loved. Also supporting with discipline, transitions, and clean-up as needed.

Youth Team
(Friday Evenings)
Join the team investing in our young people (Young Youth years 7–9 & Older Youth years 11-13). You’ll help create a fun and welcoming environment through games, worship, and small group discussions, while supporting the Youth Pastor and building genuine relationships with the teens. It’s all about having fun, growing in faith together, and being part of a team that encourages the next generation.

Young Adults Team
(Friday Evenings)
Our Young Adults Ministry is for young adults age 18-25. Serving on this team means walking alongside them as they navigate the big questions and challenges of early adulthood—relationships, career choices, university life, and everyday ups and downs. You’ll help create a supportive space where they can grow in faith, find practical wisdom, and learn how to live passionately for Jesus in the midst of real life.

Coffee & Chat
(Friday Morning once a month)
This is a more relaxed, social serving role. Setting up coffee/tea, welcoming people, helping facilitate conversations, maybe helping with light snacks, tidying up. Great if you enjoy being hospitable in an informal setting.

Maintenance
Fixing things, general upkeep, small repairs, maybe gardening or external property maintenance, making sure all facilities are safe and in good working order. If you like hands-on work and practical problem solving, this role can be deeply helpful.

Seasonal Ministries – The Bible Course
Similar to Alpha, but focused on a course exploring the Bible. You’ll help facilitate, perhaps lead discussion groups, support with prep and follow up, helping people engage thoughtfully. It tends to be more teaching/discussion oriented.

Open Air Outreach Events
Take church beyond the building and into the community! Serving here could mean being part of the worship team outdoors, helping set up and pack down equipment, or simply being available to chat with people who have questions about faith. It’s a chance to meet strangers where they’re at, share God’s love in practical ways, and invite the wider community to encounter Jesus.

Choir & Theatre Clubs – Assistant (Thursdays 4-6pm) or Bug Beats Toddlers Music Group - Assistant (Fridays 9-10.15am)
Join our choir and theatre groups for children in school years 3– and 7–9 on Thursdays after school! As an assistant, you'll support the leader in rehearsals, organize materials, and encourage kids as they sing and perform. Your role is to help create an enjoyable and inspiring environment.
Or assist with Bug Beats Toddlers Music Group on Friday mornings, engaging young children in music and faith.

Videography & Video Editing
Use your creativity with video to help us tell powerful stories. This could mean filming special events, creating highlight reels, or producing short clips for social media and the website. You might also edit videos for online content, helping us keep things fresh and engaging for people both inside and outside the church.
